Question: Are You Writing To Everyone?

Writers often make the mistake of casting their net too wide, which brings us to this week's question:

Are you writing to everyone and connecting with no one?

It’s easy to keep your topics broad with the assumption that it will appeal to more readers.

But here's what you need to remember:

The more specific your writing is, the stronger the connection you’ll build with your audience.

So this week before you write, write your target readers' name, age, demographics, and pain points. Then make your entire piece feel like a personal conversation with that specific person.

Quote: On Overcoming Overwhelm

“You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.”

Martin Luther King Jr.

The lesson: It's easy to get overwhelmed with writing when you’re juggling multiple responsibilities with work, family, and everything else life throws at you. Rather than having it all figured out before you begin, take one small action today to break through the cycle of inactivity. It can be one paragraph, one sentence, or just one idea. Whichever it is, take the plunge today.

Framework: The 6-Minute Writing Sprint

Creating content that educates, entertains, and inspires doesn't happen overnight.

Or does it?

Well, sometimes, with a bit of practice, all it can take is just six minutes.

That's right. If you're left with a consistent feeling that you don’t have enough time to write, this week's framework is designed just for you.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Craft Your Message

Set a timer for two minutes and write without overthinking. The only thing you need to focus on is to get words on a page. At the end of the two minutes, look through your sentences and find the "hidden gem": the one thing you absolutely need to say, the big idea, and why it matters. You’ll be surprised how quickly you strip away the excess with a simple time restriction.

  1. Refine The Hidden Gem

Now that you have a hidden gem and a rough first draft, let's take it a step further. Set another 2-minute timer to look through for any typos and expand on your hidden gem with a few more sentences to incorporate a logical transition between your introduction and conclusion. What matters most is keeping your writing raw and authentic, so try not to adjust more than what's necessary.

  1. Share With The World

Finally, set another 2-minute timer to take your final draft to either LinkedIn or Twitter and share it. It might take longer at first, but once you get into the habit of writing short, powerful messages consistently, you're guaranteed to witness real momentum and real results.

Idea: Be Bold

You’re a doctor who’s constantly dealing with high-stakes decisions. Yet with writing, so many of us play it safe.

Why?

Because we’re afraid of criticism, afraid of saying the wrong thing, or simply afraid of committing to the words we publish online.

People aren’t reading your content to hear the same old advice. They’re looking for bold ideas backed with captivating stories. They want ideas that make them think differently.

Our advice for this week is simple: don’t hold back. Be bold in your opinions, speak your mind, and share the ideas that make you uncomfortable.

That’s the stuff that sticks.
