Hello Doctors and Writers,

Welcome to the 24th edition of the newsletter.

If you want to start and build your space in the world with words, this newsletter will provide you with the steps that help you finish the year as a more skilled, creative, and consistent writer than when you started.

Question: What's Stopping You?

If you've been inconsistent with publishing or just overthinking your writing processes, the first, and arguably most important for you to consider, is this:

What’s stopping you from writing more?

If you’re like most writers, the biggest roadblock is always going to be the fear of imperfection. You hesitate to hit publish because it’s not “there” yet.

However, a key lesson to remind yourself of is that rather than focusing on creating masterpieces, you should instead focus on momentum.

Ask yourself:

  • Have I written something this week?

  • Am I more focused on the process or the product?

  • Do I have a system to capture, refine, and share ideas consistently?

Your single writing goal for 2025 is simple: prioritize volume over perfection.

The more you write, the more you improve.

And the better you get, the closer you’ll come to the quality you're looking for.

Quote: On Repetition and Writing

"We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit."

Aristotle

The lesson: To become a writer with breakthrough ideas next year, build two core habits that allow you to be consistent and vulnerable with everything you put down on paper. The first habit is to make writing a regular part of your life: practice daily, focus on small wins, and always put in consistent effort. The second habit is to embrace the discomfort. Stories that resonate the most with readers lie on the edge of experiences, beliefs, and emotions. Lean into it. That's where the magic takes place.

Framework: The 1-2-3 Writing System

The key theme for your writing this year is simplicity.

With that in mind, for this week’s framework, we're sharing a system that balances creativity, discipline, and reflection so it's easy to stick with whilst being ultra-impactful once followed.

Let's dive into the 1-2-3 writing system.

  1. One Core Practice

Commit to a single writing habit you can sustain all year. Maybe it’s writing 500 words daily or publishing one piece weekly. The idea is to keep this simple, achievable, and consistent.

  1. Two Key Goals

Choose one skill you want to improve (e.g. storytelling) and one audience-building metric you'd like to grow (e.g. subscribers). Whilst staying focused on your skill, these two will act as the metrics for progression of your work.

  1. Three Monthly Experiments

Each month, test three new ideas to push your writing boundaries. Maybe you'd like to write in a new style, publish on a completely new platform, or explore a topic you’ve always avoided. Track what works, what doesn’t, and how you can use what you've learned to improve your writing.

Idea: The Writing Audit

This upcoming year, one of your key practices should be to focus on systematically reviewing all your writing.

At the end of each month, ask yourself:

  • What did I write?

  • What worked?

  • What didn’t?

  • What did I learn about my audience?

  • What’s one thing I’ll do differently next month?

This simple practice is an excellent way to keep you accountable, help you spot patterns, and guarantee you’re always moving forward.

If you'd like to take things up a level, save your answers somewhere visible like a notebook or Notion dashboard. By December, you’ll have a personal playbook of writing lessons and insights to carry into 2026.
